Poem of the Day

So how long did it take you?
to figure out that this conversation

had gone horribly wrong.
Clueless me, I took a year and three days
Something tells me you knew a lot sooner.

See, I was scared, insecure and bored
harping on the collapse of the flashlight I used to see
in a world where the range of my eyes did not encompass such things as smiles
I sat with my steel wool, scrubbing acid off the batteries,
to obtain the current I needed to navigate your disorderly circles of love and boredom

I told you a story of a desert

where moths pollinate flowers
and roses only come in blue
I would say more, but I don't have time for verbs.
If you'd like to stand, at the bottom of the stairs
perhaps I can show you.
There! Stand still, and pretend you hate me.

You had to expect me to act in a way you didn't expect
after all, isn't that why you liked me in the first place?
I guess that goes to show, comfort is skin deep and friendship is...well, lunar

There. That's my poem for the day,
I'm off to get drunk.
